Dedicated in 2022, the 南希·R. & 诺顿T. 道奇 Performing Arts Center is a vital part of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland campus, and serves as a focal point for the performing arts not only for the college, but for the community as a whole.
南希·R. & 诺顿T. 道奇 Performing Arts Center features the following:
- 有700个座位的礼堂, which will host a full schedule of performances in the arts for the benefit of students, 学院, and the entire surrounding community
- A 125-seat recital hall and adjacent rehearsal studios

南希·R. 和诺顿T. 道奇 Performing Arts Center honors Nancy 道奇, who provided the largest gift in 学院’s history, 还有她已故的丈夫, 前圣. 玛丽书院受托人 and professor of economics.
The future 道奇s first met when Professor 道奇 was a St. 玛丽书院受托人. In 1980, the same year the couple were married, Professor 道奇 resigned from the board and became a professor of economics, a position he held until his retirement in 1989. The couple’s generosity to 学院 has continued throughout this association. In 1979 the 道奇s’ Cremona Foundation loaned 400 pieces of art to display in Montgomery Hall for the symposium “Perspectives on Soviet Russian Culture.” In 1981, 学院 hosted “The World of Islam: Tradition and Change,直到2000年, it is estimated that more than a dozen shows in the Boyden画廊 featured pieces from this unique collection. 自2012年以来,. 道奇 has hosted the Cremona Summer Archaeology program at the couple’s farm. In 2020, the merit-based 诺顿T. 南希·R. 道奇 Scholarship Endowed Fund was established with a new, substantial donation.
南希·R. 道奇, a trained organist and pianist, graduated in 1958 from DePauw University with a history degree and earned a second major and a master’s degree in organ performance from Northwestern University. 夫人. 道奇 made a career with Encyclopaedia Britannica and was the company’s first female to be responsible for a sales region.
诺顿T. 道奇, 他于2011年去世, graduated from Cornell University and then earned both a master’s degree in Russian Regional Studies and a doctorate degree in economics from Harvard. Professor 道奇 was a professor of economics at St. Mary’s College from 1980 to 1989, a member of 学院’s 校董会 from 1967 to 1979 and served as a St. Mary’s College of Maryland Foundation Director from 1980 to 2000. The College awarded Professor 道奇 an honorary degree in 2002.
